Welcome to the home site of the Hemisphere Cruiser – a 2004 PT Cruiser GT Turbo (Chrysler Cool Vanilla) that has been custom air brushed to reflect my passion for the Jimmy Buffett/Parrothead life- style. This cruiser is my daily ride car and frequently sees all the Atlantic Coast weather it can handle. As of the summer of 2010 the Hemisphere Cruiser has won over 30 trophies while participating in various PT Cruiser shows, along with our Dream Cruiser friends, the past few years. The most common awards are for best mural at various shows. The custom painting was all done by Chuck Gamber – aka “Jack of Arts” out of Ellicott City, Maryland. The unique picture on the hood was created by Chuck and it is one of Jimmy Buffett’s first airplanes – the Hemisphere Dancer. Hence the naming of my car became the Hemisphere Cruiser. This actual plane is currently at Margaritaville at Universal Studios in Orlando, Florida. The rear panel is a compilation of art work that was drawn from mouse pad art and selected clip art that I provided. Chuck and I work quite well together as he is always able to interpret my concept ideas for my dream life car. Could it be that an occasional bottle of tequila brings us together? I consider the rear of the Hemisphere Cruiser to be my bar. Please note the 2.4 liter turbo blender (unplugged) and of course a Maryland blue crab sidestepping its way along the bar. We have added art to all sides of this fun car and that includes a palm tree that extends up on to the roof. I’m still not sure how Chuck got up there to do that painting. I was told that it might cost me extra if I watched or assisted in that part of the painting. I’m still looking for the lady that left the top of her swim suit tied to that tree. When we show the car to friends and enthusiasts it is always fun to thank the ladies for the swim suit contribution. Seen a few blush there. Creating the Key West atmosphere has always been the point of the art creation. Chuck was simply told to let the wave’s splash over the front wheel wells. But most of all I told him to have fun with this creation. This is my answer to the many other beautiful PT Cruisers that are decorated with wild and crazy flames. We had fun hiding a couple of lost shakers of salt (thank you Jimmy Buffett), a pop top to not be stepped on, my late pooch Bubba (hiding in the airplane door) along with a split open coconut dripping coconut milk. What a hoot to set the kids looking for all of the painted treasures at the shows. I always enjoy driving the Hemisphere Cruiser- whether it is around town (Columbia, Maryland) or on the open road to all corners of the PT Cruiser and Parrothead worlds. I do so enjoy getting the thumbs up from other PT Cruisers, Harley Davidson drivers, and fellow ParrotHeads.
Enjoy the following slide-show showing the evolution of the Hemisphere Cruiser over the past few years as well as a few pics of our cruising friends.
